Dublin name team to face Kerry

  • Jun 16,2023

TG4 Senior Championship Group C Rd 1

Saturday June 17th, 5pm

Parnell Park, Donnycarney

The Dublin team to take on Kerry in the opening round of the TG4 senior championship has been named. There is just one change in personnel from that which began the Leinster final versus Meath on May 28th last, with Aoife Kane replacing Ellen Gribben in the Dublin back line.

When the two teams meet back in February in round four of the national league Kerry enjoyed a comprehensive 3-15 to 1-10 victory over Dublin. Hannah O’Donoghue, Ciara Murphy and team captain Siofra O’Shea where on target for the Kerry goals. While their key forward, Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh chalked up a tally of 0-11 points with nine of those scores coming from placed balls.

However Kerry have not defeated Dublin in championship since 2012 with the Dubs enjoying several key victories over the Kingdom over the last nine seasons. Kerry will travel to the Capital fully intent on getting their season firmly back on track following their shock defeat at the hands of their fiercest Munster rivals Cork in last month’s provincial final.

The two teams are favourites* to lift the Brendan Martin cup so Saturdays encounter will be a key game for both Counties. The result will also have a big influence on their future championship pathway. (Source Paddy Power 17th June Dublin 9/4, Kerry 7/2, Cork 5/1, Meath 11/2*)

Match official, Jonathan Murphy from Carlow will get proceedings underway at 5pm in Parnell Park.

Admission will be by ticket only. Tickets remain on sale for the event to purchase simply click on this link https://bit.ly/3WQcYlS
