A New Look Dublin on the way ….
Dublin’s 2023 LIDL NFL campaign gets underway on the 22nd of January next with a meeting with reigning division one champions, Meath.
The metropolitans will have home advantage for their first competitive game of new playing season with the match venue, time and ticket information to be confirmed shortly by Dublin County board officials.
Dublin boss, Mick Bohan will have to plan for the new season without the services of veteran forward Lyndsey Davey who announced her retirement from Inter County back in December bringing the curtain down on a career which began back in 2004.
While the makeup of the 2023 Dublin league squad is yet to be finalised a number of renowned players are expected to be absent from the Dubs set up including Nicole Owens (knee injury) and Sinead Goldrick who has remained in Australia following Melbourne’s Grand final victory over Brisbane.
Senior panellist’s Hannah Leahy and Rachael Hartnett are also unavailable to Dublin boss Mick Bohan with both players in rehab following knee surgery and in all probability wont feature for the sky blues this season. It is also believed that a number of seasoned campaigners are taking time to evaluate their availability for the forthcoming season.
Interesting times lies ahead for the girls in blue as they look to bounce back from what was a somewhat disappointing 2022 season by their own high standards.
The condense NFL fixture schedule will provide Dublin management with the ideal opportunity to give big game experience to the emerging members of the senior panel ahead of the Leinster championship which begins on the 30th of April next.
The top two teams in Divisions 1, 2 and 3 will progress straight to the Lidl National League Finals, while there will be semi-finals in Division 4, scheduled for Sunday March 26.
The Divisions 1 and 2 Finals will be played at Croke Park on Saturday, April 15, with the Divisions 3 and 4 Finals taking place on Sunday April 16.
