Leinster Senior Club Championship Final

FT Score

Kilmacud Crokes 4-15 (27) Tinahely 0-08 (8)

Emer Sweeney created club history today by becoming the first Kilmacud Crokes captain to accept the Bill Daly cup as her side where crowned champions of Leinster following an emphatic nineteen-point victory over Tinahely, in Bray.

Player of the match, Éabha Rutledge was in outstanding form finishing the game with a personal tally of 3-01, her work rate, link up play and movement throughout the contest was outstanding to watch. Rutledge who was nominated for an All Star award in 2019 as a defender has had to overcome a series of concussion injuries in order to get back playing football, today she announced her return in style.

In general, Kilmacud Crokes tenacity in the tackle, movement without the ball and stamina throughout the game was key to their success. Tinahely try as they might could not handle or match Crokes in any area on the field and trailed the Dublin champions at the interval by 2-07 to 0-05 despite playing with the aid of a strong breeze.

Crokes picked up where they left off after the break. The Dublin champions finished the second half by outscoring their opponents 2-08 to 0-03 with the Wicklow champions relying heavily on Laura Hogan upfront for their scores both from play and dead balls.

Michelle Davoren continues to be in exceptional form, Tinahely struggled all day to curtail her movement while her link up play with Rutledge and Murray was a huge factor in the Bill Daly cup taking up residency for an historic first time in Stillorgan. Davoren also nailed 0-06 from play!

Following tonight’s celebrations, Crokes will turn their attentions to preparing for an All-Ireland semi-final. St Ergnats (Antrim) take on Donaghmoyne (Monaghan) in the Ulster final which is pencilled down for November 13th with the winners meeting the newly crowned Leinster champions. on the weekend of the 26/27th of November.
