Go-Ahead SFC Final 2022

Friday 23rd September, 7:30pm

Parnell Park (Live stream)

TEAM NEWS … Kilmacud Crokes and Thomas Davis team selections for tonight’s eagerly awaited senior championship final have been released.

Kilmacud Crokes have named an experienced line up which includes eleven of the starting fifteen that were defeated after extra time by Foxrock Cabinteely in the 2019 final. Team captain, Emer Sweeney was an extra time substitute in that final for Muireann O’Gorman. While Dearbhla Gower, Ciara Regan and Kate McDaid will be togging out in their first senior final.

Thomas Davis appearing in their inaugural senior County final have named a strong team which includes the experienced quartet of Olwen Carey, Norah Kirby, Sinead Deegan and Ciara McGuigan. All of whom have been in tremendous form throughout the 2022 championship campaign.

The 2019 LGFA Players Player of the Year, and team captain Siobhan McGrath is named on the bench for the Tallaght club. McGrath was unavailable for most of the championship though injury, played a key role in Davis’s semi-final win over Na Fianna and could yet factor in Friday’s decider.

Both sides last meet during the group stages of the championship back in August with Crokes enjoying a 3-09 to 0-04 victory. Just a week later in their respective semi-finals Thomas Davis sprang back from that fourteen-point loss to Crokes to record a shock one point win over Na Fianna. On the same evening across the city, Kilmacud Crokes dominant championship form continued with a decisive eleven-point victory against St Sylvesters.

There is no doubt, Kilmacud Crokes will carry the favourites tag into the final with many in Dublin predicting this team not only to win Dublin but to go on to challenge for All Ireland glory!

Thomas Davis have already served up one shock in the championship can they pull off the biggest one of all – only time will tell!
