Preview Go Ahead Dublin Junior B Championship Final
Wednesday 14th September, 7:30pm
St Margaret’s GAA club
The last of the Junior grade Go-Ahead club championship finals takes place this evening with the meeting of Kilmacud Crokes and St Brendan’s in the B County decider.
The Junior B championship was as expected a keenly fought competition. Kilmacud Crokes and St Brendan’s both experienced a defeat during the group stages only to bounce back resolutely to defeat the group winners Erin’s Isle and Ballyboughal in their respective semi-finals.
St Brendan’s have been knocking at the door of the Junior B championship for the last two seasons, losing out in the 2021 final to St Peregrines after a replay while Scoil Ui Chonaill took home the honours in 2020 with a two-point winning margin.
Both teams have avoided each other to date during the 2022 championship with their last meeting coming in 2021 semi-final which St Brendan’s won on the score line of 2-11 to 2-07.
Key players for Kilmacud Crokes will be Alannah Jones, Eimear Mairtin and Irish international hockey player Deirdre Duke. The Stillorgan side can also call upon the services of stalwart Ann-Marie McBarron should they require backup.
St Brendan’s are an experienced outfit with the ever-reliable Karen O’Connell in goal, who is looking to add a Junior B championship medal to her impressive collection of Dublin County titles. Aoife Brennan, Sinead McKenna, Sophie Freeman and Faye Kearney all have a key role to play for the Dublin 7 based club.
Ian Howley of O’Dwyers will get the action underway at 7.30pm in St Margaret’s. Follow the game live on Dublin LGFA Twitter page @dublinladiesg while match tickets remain on sale from https://bit.ly/3d4H6aL
