O’Dwyers vs Raheny
Dublin LGFA Junior club finals are traditionally close-run encounters often than not a kick of the ball can be the difference between the two sides on the final whistle. The 2022 final has all the makings of another tight contest as O’Dwyers and Raheny go to battle for County honours.
Two points separated O’Dwyers and Raheny when the teams met in the opening round of the Junior A championship back on the 10th of August last.
O’Dwyers claimed victory on that occasion and will be hoping to make it two from two when they renew acquaintances with Raheny this evening in Swords.
To their credit Raheny bounced back well from their opening first round defeat in Balbriggan chalking up consecutive victories over St Peregrines and Scoil Ui Chonaill to qualify for the semi-finals. Raheny came through a tough semi-final encounter versus Templeogue Synge Street (winners of JFC group B) with just a kick of a ball separating the sides at the end.
O’Dwyers had a comfortable win over 2021 runners up Clontarf B in their semi-final contest bagging five goals on route to booking their place in this year’s County final.
Key players for O’Dwyers will be Aoife Curran, Erica Byrne, Amy Gibbons, and Shannon Richardson. Richardson has made a terrific comeback from a number of devastating injuries to play a prominent role for O’Dwyers throughout their championship campaign.
Raheny will look to Siobhan Woods, Carla Fitzsimons, and Ciara McDunphy to hit top this evening while TG4 underdog duo Chanice Dolan and Bronagh Fagan can also play key roles for the girls in maroon and white.
Match official Paul Meaney from Na Fianna will get proceedings under at 7.30pm in Lawless Park, live score updates from the game will be available via Dublin LGFA Twitter page.
