Dublin v Meath

Saturday May 28th 2022

Croke Park, 2:30pm

Dublin have announced their team line-up for this Saturday’s historical  provincial final showdown with Meath at Croke Park.

Mick Bohan and his management team have made three changes to the Dublin starting fifteen from that which lost narrowly to Meath in Parnell Park on May 7th last.

Coming into the team are goalkeeper Ciara Trant, half back Aoife Kane while Hannah Tyrrell returns to her regular spot in the full forward line. Making way are Abby Shiels (injured), Ellen Gribben and Nicole Owens.

Dublin have named a strong bench which includes the vastly experienced quartet of Niamh Collins, Sinead Aherne, Siobhan Killeen and Lauren Magee while defender Hannah Leahy makes a welcome return to the sky-blue match day squad having overcome a serious a knee injury picked up in a colleges semi-final back in March.

Four times All Ireland winner, Carla Rowe has not made this Saturdays squad having picked up an injury in Dublin’s Leinster victory over Westmeath on April 30th. Mick Bohan will be hopeful that the Clann Mhuire star will be available for the Dub’s opening game of the All-Ireland series on June 11th versus either Cavan or Monaghan.

Dublin will be aiming to win their 16th Leinster provincial title having claimed their very first back in 2002, from the starting fifteen Jess Tobin, Kate McDaid, Kate Sullivan, Sinead Wylde and Hannah Tyrrell will be staring in their first provincial final.

The competition was not organised in 2020 due to Dublin being the sole team graded senior in the province that season plus the fact the Country was dealing with the pandemic. Covid hindered the playing of the competition again in 2021 but after a three-year hiatus the Leinster senior final returns to centre stage.

Dublin defeated Westmeath in the last senior Leinster final played in 2019 by 4-11 to 1-07, indeed seventeen of the 2022 championship squad where part of the 2019 panel that went onto claim All Ireland glory that September versus Galway.
