Leinster MFC Rd 1

FT Dublin 1-08 Meath 4-14

Reigning Leinster minor champions Meath sent out a strong warning shot to those challenging for their title with a convincing win over Dublin this afternoon, in a sun drenched TUD campus in Blanchardstown.

The Royal County were dominant from start to finish with Ciara Smyth and Orlaith Mallon by our calculations bagging between them an impressive 3-11 of Meath’s overall tally of 4-14. No surprise that both players are part of the NFL Meath senior squad this season.

Try as they might Dublin could not get a handle on the game. Meath lead at the break by double scores 2-06 to 1-03.

On the restart the visitors sensing the smell of victory increased their work rate further. Despite, Dublin management making changes to all lines of their team the young Dubs could not contain the dominance of their opponents.

Dublin will now have to regroup, refocus and prepare for the visit of Laois to the capital on the 18th of April.

Elsewhere in the Leinster A MFC, Kildare enjoyed a 4-20 to 1-04 victory over Laois and will next play Meath in round two of the competition.
