HERE WE GO!
A massive weekend ahead as the biggest juvenile football season in the history of the Dublin Ladies Gaelic football association gets underway.
This weekend (February 26/27th) over 377 juvenile teams from U13 to minor will begin their 2022 playing season with over 188 fixtures down for decision alone in these five age groups.
Our U13 league comprises of eleven divisions with 92 teams in action this weekend. The U14 league has 73 teams competing across 10 divisions, U15 league has 76 teams in ten divisions, with 60 teams at U16 grade contesting eight divisions while our minor league has 76 teams competing in ten divisions.
Our small sided non-competitive fixtures programme for U10 to U12 players also commences this weekend with 413 teams entered to compete at these three grades in 2022.
Our U9 and U8 games will commence on the 26/27th of March. Again, a record number of teams have entered for the 2022 playing season. With 179 x U8 and 162 x U9 teams looking forward to getting out of the field in a months’ time.
Dublin LGFA has experienced a massive growth in our playing membership over the last five years with the total membership in Dublin expected to exceed 25, 000 this year.
With 74 clubs now affiliated to Dublin LGFA one can only attribute the growth in the association down to the huge amount of development and promotional work being carried at grass roots level right across our County by 100’s of club volunteers.
