December GYW Referees Courses -

All LGFA County Boards must organise their referees’ courses via the LGFA in Croke Park. Course bookings and tutor availability is fully administered by the LGFA.

Dublin have acquired 3 x GYW Referees Courses in December 2021. We have no guarantee as to the number of course will be made available to use in January or February as bookings are opened up to the 32 Counties.

Therefore, clubs who currently have no GYW referees trained up or whose referees’ numbers are low please inform interested club members of these up-and-coming courses.

Clubs are advised not to only encourage teenage members to take up refereeing but to also consider approaching adult players or parents who may not be in a position to coach or mentor a team but would be happy to give a helping hand by refereeing an underage game on the weekends.

Course dates are as follows -

December 14th, 7-9pm online SOLD OUT

December 16th, 7-9pm online SOLD OUT

December 17th, 7-9pm online SOLD OUT

Course fee is €10 per person and all bookings must be done online via our website – here is the booking link

NOTE The LGFA host all their courses on the GAA E-learning portal.

GYW Course participants MUST set up an account on this facility to gain access to the webinar.

Instructions are attached for participants on how to set up a GAA E-Learning account E-learning Registration Guidelines.pdf

Please note: Users of the GAA E-Learning portal will be first asked to input their age for the site to comply with legislation around the Digital age of consent. A user under the age of 16 is a minor and therefore will need the consent of a parent or guardian to create an account on the site. This code is provided to the user once a parental, or guardian consent form is formally received.

Attached is the guideline on how to obtain the code - GAA E-Learning How to obtain Parental Consent Code.pdf

The course participant should set up their account on the GAA E-Learning portal as soon as they have made their booking so to have plenty of time to deal with any issues which may occur.

Note the email address provided on our booking system will be the address that will receive the webinar URL and password to gain access to the course. So please make sure the correct email address is provided and do not use a work email address whose firewall may block emails from an outside source.

This webinar URL information will be emailed to the email address provided on the booking form a day or two prior to the date of the course.

Dublin organises annually more club fixtures than any other county board and as such we have a ‘specific referee pathway’ agreed with the LGFA National Referee Development officer Claire Dowdall due to the uniqueness of our county fixtures set up.

GYW Go Games Referee pathway – Year 1 U8 to U10 fixtures

GYW Go Games Referee pathway – Year 2 U8 to U11 fixtures

GYW Go Games Referee pathway – Year 3 U8 to U12 fixtures

Course participants can be 15 years of age doing the GYW course, but they must be 16 years of age to officiate a Dublin LGFA game. All people working with juveniles in any capacity are required by law to be Garda Vetted and hold an up to date Safe-guarding certificate. You must be aged 16 to be vetted. Contact your club children's officer for more info.

Below is the link to the on-line Safeguarding course again your club children's officer is the best person to advise you on this topic also attached is the link for Garda vetting.
