Dublin LGFA Annual Awards 2018:


The Dublin LGFA awards took place this evening in the Castleknock Hotel guests of honour included Marie Hickey Uachtarán Cumann Peil Gael na mBan, Helen O’Rourke Ard-Stiúrthóir Cumann Peil Gael na mBan and Dominic Leech, Cathaoirleach Comhairle Laighean.


Alistair Weir, representing title sponsors, AIG and Cormac Farrell from O’Neill’s were also in attendance as well as Lauren Redmond and Julie Carney from CPL alongside many proud family members, association volunteers and county board officers.


Joanne Cantwell of RTÉ Sport was once again the MC for the evening.


The Dublin minor footballers were presented with their championship medals having won the provincial title back on the 29th of April last and in doing so claimed Dublin’s 8th consecutive minor Leinster title in a row.


Minor captain, Sarah Fagan (Clontarf) who had an outstanding season in the sky blue jersey was announced as the Minor Footballer of the Year while Hannah Leahy (Scoil Ui Chonaill) was the recipient of the Minor Players Player of the Year Award.


2018 was indeed a special year for the Dublin senior team not only did the girls in blue retain their All Ireland and Leinster crowns they added a historic division one national league title to their growing list of honours.


Lyndsey Davey (Skerries Harps) was named as the Senior Footballer of the Year. The firefighter from Skerries was in splendid form for Dublin this season. Davey is also in contention for the coveted TG4 Players Player of the Year award which will be announced at the TG4 All Stars banquet next Saturday in City West.


Two special awards “Loach Gorm na Foirne” were presented to Siobhan Woods (Raheny) and Kate Fitzgibbon (Clontarf) both girls were chosen as recipients of these awards by their peers.
