Dublin v Galway
For the third time in five week’s Dublin will play in Dr Hyde Park, home of Roscommon football. Waiting to meet them this Saturday will be Connacht champions Galway, at stake is a place in the All Ireland final on September 16th versus either Cork or Donegal. (throw in 4:30pm)
The two Counties last meet in championship fare in the All- Ireland semi-final of 2014 with Dublin overcoming the challenge of Galway that day to book their place in the All- Ireland final for the first time since 2010.
Lindsay Peat and Carla Rowe raised the green flag for Dublin on that occasion while Annette Clarke was on target from the penalty spot for the Tribeswomen as Dublin ran out winners on the score line of 2-14 to 1-13.
Sixteen players from the 2014 championship panel feature still on the current Dublin squad including players such as Sinead Goldrick, Noelle Healy and Sinead Aherne, to name but a few. With more than half of the current Dublin panel having played in the last five championships campaigns it gives one an indication of the level of experience at Dublin’s disposal.
This experience could prove vital to Mick Bohan’s chargers as Galway have been most impressive throughout their 2018 All Ireland championship campaign. Stephen Glennon side have registered big winning margins over Waterford, Westmeath and Mayo on route to Saturday’s semi-final showdown with Dublin. Indeed Galway have amassed a scoring tally in their last three games of 14 goals and 40 points while only conceding 1 goal and 23 points to their three opponents.
Mick Bohan is due to name his starting 15 for Saturday’s semi-final on Friday with the Dublin manager expected to stick with a similar line out to that which took the field against Kerry in the quarter final on august 12th, last.
