Match report Dublin v Kildare
- May 20,2018
LFC U16 Final (FT)
Dublin 2-10 Kildare 2-17
Dublin’s eight year reign as U16 Leinster Champions came to an end today following Kildare’s 7 point victory over the girls from the capital in a enthralling encounter played before a huge crowd in Ballymore Eustace.
Kildare were the better team throughout today’s contest reversing Dublin’s group game victory over the lilywhites earlier this season. They were worthy winners and will represent Leinster well in the upcoming All Ireland semi-final versus Munster champions, Kerry.
Kildare’s number 11 Aoife Rattigan was in exceptional form finishing the game with a tally of 1-06 (2f) she was able assisted by corner forward Orlaith Sullivan, who was a constant thorn in the side of the Dublin defence she finished the game with an impressive contribution of 0-7(3f).
To Dublin’s credit they emptied their bench in the second half as they chased down the 7 point half time deficit. The young Dubs effectively threw everything at Kildare as they tried desperately to retain their Leinster title.
A late rally by Dublin saw Caitlin Coffey grab a second Dublin goal while Sarah O’Leary, Lauren Young and Aoife Coffey finished the game strongly for Dublin.
