All Ireland U21 “Tournament” 2016 
4th and 5th June 2016
Venue: Naomh Mearnog CLG, Portmarnock (Dublin)

The LGFA in Croke Park today released the groupings and format for the 2016 U21 Tournament. This new competition replaces the Aisling McGing U21 championship which Dublin had won for the last two years in a row.

Dublin are pooled in Group 1 alongside Cavan, Longford, Mayo, Monaghan and Limerick. While 2013 U21 Champions Cork are joined in Group 2 by Galway, Kildare, Meath, Roscommon and Tyrone.

The U21 “Tournament” takes place on the weekend of the 4th and 5th of June in Naomh Mearnog GAA club, Portmarnock.

All Teams in each group will play each other once, teams placed first and second in each group after all round games have been played will qualify for the A Championship, the semi-finals of which will be played on the Sunday. Winners of Group 1 will play the runner up in Group 2 in the semi-final and vice versa.

Third and fourth placed teams will contest the B championship semi-finals and likewise team placed fifth and sixth will contest the C championship semi-finals.

Saturday’s round robin games will be 10 minutes a half, the semi-finals on Sunday will also be 10 minutes a half with the final 15 minutes a half.

A number of the 2015 All Ireland U21 winning Dublin panel are eligible again to play at this grade including senior stars Carla Rowe, Molly Lamb, Muireann Ni Scanaill and Olwen Carey to name but a few.

Dublin U21’s will be managed by the Dublin senior management team of Greg McGonigle, Bobby McNulty, Ray Boyne, Kathleen Colreavy, Sorcha Furlong and Niamh McEvoy.
