Dubin minor book place in Final

DUBLIN'S LADIES MINORS MAKE LIGHT OF THE WEATHER AND POWER TO LEINSTER FINAL

The destination yesterday afternoon for the Dublin Minor Ladies Football Squad was Clane Gaa Club to face Kildare in the Leinster Championship semi-final.
Weather conditions for the game were awful with a non- stop downpour throughout the game and the underfoot conditions for the players was treacherous.
But that didn't stop both teams putting on a very entertaining and competitive encounter for the crowd in attendance.
Kildare had slightly the better of the first half and led by a point at the break by 0-05 to 0-04. The Kildare points came from Molly Price with two frees and a point a piece from Aoife Stapleton, Clara Wosser and Nicole Dooley.
Dublin's first half points were scored by Dearbhla Snow with a free and one from play, midfielder Erica Byrne and a free from Clara O’Sullivan.
The second half was a totally different affair with Dublin totally dominating as their pace, power, fitness levels and strength in depth from the bench came to the fore.
Dublin held Kildare to just two points for the entire second period, both scored by Aoife Stapleton, one from a free and the other from open play.
In return Dublin hit 1-09, four came from the boot from the live wire Mia Jennings, Clara O'Sullivan hit 1-01, her goal a very clever finish in between her marker and the onrushing keeper.
Further points came from Hannah O'Neill, Emily Flanagan and Erica Byrne got her second of the game from a free.
Kildare ran out of ideas and steam before the finish and were reduced to launching high balls in around the Dublin square as they desperately looked for the goals they needed to get back into the game.
But Dublin defended resolutely and closed off any gaps quickly and cleared their lines with an assured calmness to run out deserved winners and with it a place in the Minor Leinster Championship Final.
