Dublin Clubs performing well in Leinster -

Two out of three Dublin club champions where in action in their respective Leinster championships last weekend. First up on Saturday Intermediate champions St Sylvester’s welcomed Carlow representatives Bennekerry Tinryland to Malahide.

The previous Saturday, Cliodhna Ní Shé was named as the TG4 / LGFA Junior Players Player of the Year having helped her club win the Carlow County title earlier the same afternoon.

Ní Shé nabbed the opening score of the game, but it was the St Sylvester’s forward line that would give an awarding winning performance with Dublin captain, Sinead Aherne in fine form once again chalking up an impressive, 1-06 of her sides overall tally.

At the interval the home side lead by 1-08 to 0-05 and would go on to totally control the second half with Kate Sullivan, Nicole Owens and Dannielle Lawless all contributing well to their club’s ten-point victory and progression into the Leinster quarter finals.

Full time score St Sylvester’s 1-16 (19) Bennekerry Tinryland 0-09.

St Sylvester’s travel to Laois this coming Saturday (November 27th) for a quarter final meeting with Ballyroan, 1.30pm

On Sunday, reigning Dublin and Leinster senior champions Foxrock Cabinteely travelled to Kildare for a quarter final encounter with Eadestown. This was hard fought contest with Foxrock Cabinteely having to call upon all their experience to edge out the Kildare champions.

Having trailed by two points at the interval Foxrock Cabinteely came good in the third quarter of this intriguing contest by adding five unanswered points to their tally. On the final whistle just two points separated the teams. Full time score Foxrock Cabinteely 0-12 Eadestown 0-10.
