Dublin v Waterford match report

The last time these two teams played was in 2020 in the All Ireland Senior Championship and Dublin won with a score of 0-17 Dublin 1-10 Waterford.


In today’s match Waterford’s Maria Delahunty and Dublin’s Sinead Aherne scored early points. Then Hannah Tyrell scored 3 points in a row for Dublin. From then on the game stopped and started and Waterford struggled to get the ball forward. 


Lyndsey Davey got the first goal for Dublin in the 12th minute followed by another goal for Dublin by Niamh Hetherton in the 18th minute. Dublin’s Aoife Kane got a yellow card just before half time. At half time Dublin were winning 2-10 to Waterford 0-07.


Dublin got the 2nd half off to great start with a point from Lucy Collins and a goal from Sinead Aherne within the first 5 minutes. Waterford missed a goal opportunity when the ball hit the crossbar. 


Then a second yellow card for Dublin, this time Caoimhe O’Connor. Dublin continued their scoring streak with 3 more points followed by 2 goals in quick succession in the 55th minute. This brought their total to 5 goals. 


Finally, in the 59th minute Waterford got their first goal, scored by Aileen Wall followed by another a minute later, scored by Kate McGrath.  Dublin were awarded a penalty when Caoimhe O’Connor was pushed to the ground. She took it and scored a goal giving them 6 goals. 


In the 64th minute Michelle Davoren blocked her own teammate’s chance of getting another goal for Dublin. 


The match ended with a score of Dublin 6-15 to Waterford 2-12.


The match was very exciting and Dublin looked very strong.
