Coronavirus & Impact on Clubs

The LGFA has been asked by the HSE to follow all of their guidelines and recommendations in respect of the COVID-19 outbreak.

As part of this policy we have been instructed to tell all of our clubs and counties that anyone with queries regarding COVID-19 should be directed to the HSE.

A detailed HSE website with recommendations can be found at: https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/coronavirus/coronavirus.html

The purpose of this approach is to ensure that there is one version of official communication rather than multiple statements and possible conflicting advice for members of the public.

Please see below the latest version of advice regarding mass gatherings as issued by the HSE.

Circular from Dominic Leech (Leinster LGFA President)

March 10th 2020

Please note that COVID-19 is spread in sneeze or cough droplets. To infect you, it has to get from an infected person's nose or mouth into your eyes, nose or mouth. This can be direct or indirect (on hands, objects, surfaces). Always keep this in mind. It will help you remember all the things you need to do to protect yourself and others from the virus.

In general please ensure that players do not shake hands prior to or after games. It is important that players drink from their own water bottles and to this end it is suggested that water breaks be taken at intervals to enable players to drink from their own bottles, It is particularly important that the referee ensures that he / she takes into account any reasonable fears players or mentors may have while refereeing and generally ensures that he / she bears in mind all aspects of this direction.

This info is issued to try assist clubs - It is not intended to seek to cause distress or alarm but it is important that clubs ensure that they put proper procedures in place in accordance with the HSE directive so that we may all deal with this current outbreak of COVID-19
