Leinster U14 Championship Final

FT Score Meath 6-11(29) Dublin 0-09(9)

Meath are U14 Leinster champions. The Royal County bridged a four year gap to reclaim the title they last won back in 2015.

Meath were impressive versus Dublin with the Royal county knocking six goals past the reigning champions to clinch victory this afternoon in Kinnegad.

Meath led at the interval by 5 points, HT score Dublin 0-06 Meath 1-08. Meath’s opening goal came in the first minute when a high ball from a free kick was punched to the back of the Dublin net by half forward Rebecca Harney.

Despite the early setback, Dublin knuckled down working hard throughout the first half but try as they might simply could not breakdown the Meath sweeper defensive system.

On the restart Dublin went in search of some early scores only to be hit at the other end of the pitch with a second Meath goal which saw the gap grow to 8 points.

Meath hit a purple patch in the closing ten minutes which saw the Royal county hit four goals despite the best efforts of Dublin defenders Sarah Power and Heather Bolger who impressed for Dublin throughout the game.

Meath corner forward Sarah Jane Lyons was named Player of the Match while Serena Gavin and Molly O’Connor were also impressive for Meath.
