Killeen honoured with The Croke Park/LGFA Player of the Month award for December

CLONTARF and Dublin forward Siobhán Killeen has been honoured with The Croke Park/LGFA Player of the Month award for December.

Killeen (25), was magnificent in the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Final at Parnell Park on December 8, scoring 5-4 in a remarkable individual display against Emmet Óg of Monaghan.

Clontarf enjoyed victory by 8-14 to 2-5 to land national silverware, hot on the heels of their Dublin and Leinster successes.

Clontarf’s All-Ireland win capped a memorable year for Killeen, a former Republic of Ireland Women’s soccer International who has now committed fully to Ladies Football.

Killeen made the decision to focus exclusively on her current sport from early in 2018 and she made Lidl National League appearances for Dublin against Kerry, in the group stages, and Galway in the Division 1 semi-final.

Killeen would end the inter-county season as a TG4 All-Ireland Senior championship winner with Dublin, as she was a member of Mick Bohan’s squad for the Final victory over Cork at Croke Park, in front of a record 50,141 attendance.

Muireann King, Director of Sales & Marketing at The Croke Park, was on hand this afternoon (THURS) to present Killeen with her richly-deserved award.

Killeen will now switch her attentions to the 2019 campaign, when her goal is to claim a place in Bohan’s starting line-up, while Clontarf have Senior Club Championship football to prepare for.
