Dublin LGFA Development Committee

Summer coaching and referees courses 2018

The following courses will take place in the coming weeks ahead of the resumption of the juvenile playing season. Dublin LGFA Development Committee had also intended to run a Level 1 coaching course in July / August but unfortunately Croke Park were unable to provide a tutor so this course will now take place either at the end of the Autumn series of games or early in the new year ahead of the 2019 playing season, details will be issued to clubs once details are confirmed.

We will also be hosting two goalkeeping workshops in August aimed at this time at players themselves oppose to coaches. Workshop #1 (13-16 year olds) and workshop #2 (minor / adults)

The workshops will be hosted by Ronan McGann and will take place in the GAA grounds of IT Blanchardstown, more details to follow re: dates, time and course fee.

The club referees coordinator would be responsible for the appointment of referees to their respective clubs home fixtures or indeed neighbouring clubs games if a request comes from same.

GARDA Vetting

Vetting in the LGFA

The LGFA has a long established principle of vetting any person who, on our behalf, works with children or vulnerable adults in our Association. This principle is enshrined in rule through our Code of Best Practice in Youth Sport and has become part of the overall recruitment and selection process for those who wish to work with us in the LGFA, in a voluntary or paid role.

The term ‘relevant work’ in the LGFA includes any role of responsibility such as coaching, managing or training underage teams or indeed adult teams that contain any player under 18 yrs. of age. It also applies to organising underage activities or refereeing underage games.

What if the applicant is under 18 yrs. of age?

LGFA vetting services are available to any person over 16 yrs. of age fulfilling a role of responsibility with children or vulnerable adults. A parental consent form (NVB Parent/Guardian Consent Form) must be completed, for applicants between 16 and 18 yrs. of age
