DUBLIN TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT

LIDL NFL Division one

Sunday February 4th, 2018

Westmeath v Dublin

St Lomans GAA club, Mullingar

Dublin will make the relative short journey to Mullingar this Sunday for their LIDL NFL division one meeting with Westmeath. The round two fixture has a slightly earlier throw in time of 12:30pm owing to the Allianz NFL division 2 game, Westmeath v Armagh taking place in TEG Cusack Park at 2.30pm.

This division one clash is affectively a dress rehearsal for the 2018 provincial championship decider between the same two teams with Dublin and Westmeath the only Counties competing at senior level within Leinster this season.

Dub’s Boss, Mick Bohan has made a number of changes to the team line out from that which overcame Donegal the week previous.  The metropolitans will be boosted by the return of defender, Sinead Goldrick to their starting team while team Captain Sinead Aherne is also named to start on Sunday having been introduced as a second half substitute in the Donegal game.

Dublin have a pulled together a large panel for the NFL so the competition for places is at an all -time high. Kate Fitzgibbon, Lucy Collins, Aoife Kane and Rebecca McDonnell all of whom enjoyed a run out in Letterkenny are handed starting positions on the team for Sunday’s clash in St Loman’s.

Westmeath will relish the visit of Dublin to Mullingar and at home the mid-landers have the potential to cause an upset. Key players for Westmeath on Sunday will be Johanna Maher, Maud Annie Foley, Fiona Claffey and Laura Walsh.  Both Claffey and Walsh will be very familiar with the Dublin players as both play their club football in the Capital with Foxrock Cabinteely and Na Fianna respectively. While Westmeath team manager Stephen Maxwell is a member of the Ballyboughal club in North County Dublin and former manager of the DCU Ladies college team. So all in all Sunday's game has the makings of an interesting encounter.

Laois official, Niall McCormack will get the action under way in St Lomans GAA club, Mullingar on Sunday at 12.30 Dublin LGFA will have LIVE score updates available via their Twitter page @dublinladiesg
