TG4 Leinster Senior Championship semi-final

Sunday June 25th, 2017

Dublin v Laois

Venue: Timahoe GAA club, Co Laois

Reigning champions Dublin begin the defence of their provincial title this Sunday with a semi-final clash versus Laois. The two sides last meet in the championship last June with Dublin recording a comfortable 3-15 to 0-04 victory over the O’Moore County.

Mick Bohan and his 30 strong panel have been waiting patiently for their championship campaign to get underway. Dublin as 2016 senior champions where seeded by Leinster Council and as such qualified automatically for the semi- final.

Laois along with Westmeath and Kildare played a round robin series of games to determine who played Dublin in the semi-final and who would go straight through to the provincial decider in Netwatch Dr Cullen Park, on July 9th.

Westmeath fresh from their NFL 2 final victory over Cavan saw off the challenges of both Kildare and Laois to qualify for their third Leinster final in a row while Laois as group runners up set up a clash with the Dubs. 2016 Intermediate champions, Kildare having lost both of the championship fixtures will now have to take the scenic route via the qualifiers, the draw for which takes place on July 5th in Croke Park.

The loser of Sunday’s contest in Timahoe will join Kildare, Cork, Cavan and Armagh in that qualifying draw. The first two teams drawn will play in the preliminary round with the remaining three teams each receiving a bye to the All-Ireland qualifiers proper where they will play the Provincial runner up from Connacht, Ulster or Munster. The winner of the preliminary game will play the Provincial final runner up from Leinster.

Dublin will name their team for Sunday’s clash with Laois tomorrow evening with Dublin LGFA providing LIVE score updates from Timahoe via their Twitter page @dublinladiesg
